About Camp Applause

Great Bridge Theatre Company's presents: Camp Applause a summer camp for rising 3rd through 9th grade students. Participants will take part in a variety of classes including acting techniques, improvisation, and theatre games. Two options are available: Acting or Technical Theatre. At the conclusion of the week, parents and friends are invited to enjoy a production of short drama pieces.

Hours + Location

Four day camp running Monday - Wednesday from 7:30am-1:00pm & Thursday from 7:30am-4:30pm. A camp-wide performance for friends and family will begin at 3pm on Thursday. All events will be held at Great Bridge High School

Acting Track

The Acting track will offer five classes each day. Students will be challenged to memorize lines and blocking as they gain experience on the stage. Additionally, campers will enjoy warm up activities that encourage expression, articulation and focus.

Tech Track

The Technical Theatre Track is only available to students in rising 5th through rising 9th grades. These students will prepare sets, props and practice scene changes. This is a great option for students who enjoy theatre but may not feel comfortable performing.

Cost

Camp Applause costs $140 per child. This cost includes a Camp Applause t-shirt and a daily snack with a drink. Note that no lunch will be served. Snacks will be nut free.

About Great Bridge Theatre Company

The Great Bridge Theatre Company consists of Great Bridge High School students who have participated in theatre classes and school wide productions. Each year, the company performs a straight play in the GBHS black box theatre, a one-act piece for the Virginia High School League's state competition, and a full length musical or festival shows in the spring. The company has numerous active International Thespian Society members and several of its graduating students are pursuing theatre careers.
